Embryo vitrification

The embryo vitrification or embryo freezing is a technique that allows embryos to be preserved in optimal conditions for later use. These embryos are obtained in in vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycles, either from women who have achieved pregnancy and still have viable embryos left over, so they decide to donate them (embryo adoption), or from the same patient, after a failed fresh embryo transfer but who has more embryos left over, due to not being able to transfer them in the same cycle in which they were created or after undergoing fertility preservation treatment.

Embryo adoption

Embrioadopción

The reception of donated embryos is a technique where a donated and previously vitrified embryo is transferred to the patient. Donated embryos generally come from couples who have undergone an assisted reproduction treatment and have managed to become parents, so the spare embryos are cryopreserved to be donated to another couple. A fast, simple and economical treatment.

Cryotransfer

Criotransferencia

Cryotransfer or cryopreserved embryo transfer is a technique where a previously vitrified embryo of good quality is transferred to the patient. This embryo comes from previous IVF cycles, where good quality embryos were left over, were not transferred in the same cycle, or were cryopreserved long before in a fertility preservation treatment.

We started with a lot of fear, because we had all our hopes up and there were a lot of doubts. But little by little, the doctor explained everything to us step by step, and so we started with the treatment and medication, until the day of the transfer finally arrived. And today we are still happily waiting for the arrival of our little boy.

On a personal note, I would like to take this moment to thank Dr. Moya and Dr. Carracedo. Not only for their exceptional professionalism, but also for a humane treatment that I have rarely, if ever, seen on this long road. We need more people like them.
