The VITA team recently visited London with a clear objective: to bring our fertility treatments to british women who want to become mothers and raise awareness of them. Through informative meetings and personalised consultations, attendees were able to learn first-hand about the options we offer at VITA and resolve any queries they had about the treatments available at our clinics in Benidorm, Elche and Gandía in Spain..

The event offered the opportunity to have a private consultation with part of the VITA medical team, consisting of Dr. Daniela Cummins and Dr. Chiara Carella, gynaecologists specialising in reproductive medicine; Sarah Ann Hurst, fertility nurse; and Bianca Calota, head of international patient care. During the visits, patients were able to obtain an initial personalised diagnosis with Dr Cummins and learn about the latest advances in assisted reproduction, thus taking an important step on their journey to motherhood.

Spain, a world leader in reproductive medicine

Initiatives such as the one in London provide a unique opportunity for foreign patients to learn about Spain’s advanced legislation on assisted reproduction techniques.

With an advanced and protective legal framework, Spain’s regulation on Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques, set out in Law 14/2006, stipulates that any woman of legal age may be a recipient or user of these practices, regardless of her marital status or sexual orientation.

To achieve this, both egg and sperm donation are facilitated in a completely anonymous manner, and the confidentiality of the donors’ identity data is guaranteed. In addition, this law provides for embryo selection to prevent genetic diseases.

This legal and medical environment has made our country one of the most popular destinations for what is now known as ‘reproductive tourism’.

According to data from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), 40% of fertility treatments carried out in Europe take place in Spain, making our centres an international benchmark. Many women travel here to begin their treatment, but also to enjoy the tranquillity, climate and surroundings during such an important process.
